Lauren Garthwaite

Grand Canyon freshman goalkeeper Lauren Garthwaite was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week after a shutout of Kansas City last week. In one of the team's most complete performances of the season, Garthwaite made six saves during a 2-0 shutout of the Roos at GCU Stadium to rank third in the conference for saves this season with 61. That mark also ranks her eighth in saves among all NCAA freshman goalies.

The Matadors registered their seventh shutout of the season behind sophomore Amanda Delgado's three saves. With the win, the Matadors also notched their 200th all-time win in the 25-year history of the program.

Riding first-half goals from junior Gabriella Hinojosa and freshman Cindy Arteaga, CSUN Women's Soccer (8-4-3, 2-1 Big West) handed Cal Poly a 2-0 defeat on a windy Thursday evening at Matador Soccer Field.

The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team (2-9-1) dropped its second conference match Sunday night as the CSUN Matadors (7-4-3) emerged with the 3-1 win. The Highlanders were the first on the board with a goal in the 39th minute from junior Maria Gallardo.

The team earned its first victory after going behind this season. Camberos assumed the team lead with her third goal and eighth point. Kala McDaniel added an assist, her second, and Erin Covey notched her first collegiate point helping along the game-winning goal.

Utah Soccer suffered its first loss in Pac-12 play with a 2-1 overtime setback at No. 4 USC. Alexis Rushlow, a native of Glendora, Calif., brought the Utes level in the 88th minute with assists attributed to Hailey Stodden and Kristin Fairbairn. The cross came in from the near right side of the field and a slight touch directed it to an oncoming Rushlow who knocked it home.
